Empowering children & families with evidence based nutrition
I am delighted to announce the winner of the design contest, Amelia Kauzlarich ! She is a student at Blue Heron School, Port Townsend. Thank you so much for participating in this life changing program.
Her design is a heartfelt inspiration to those she loves. Her wish is to make a difference too! I know her design will definitely do that and more.
Please read the inspirational story about our winner, by Jeannie McMacken, The Peninsula Daily News, where she gets to the heart of Amelia's inspiration. Please see the News page of this site for links to the January 11th, 2019 Jefferson edition for the story; and also, Chris McDaniel's intimate interview with Amelia in the January 23, 2019 edition of The Leader. I would like to thank all of the 48 students that submitted design art for the contest. Over the two days of public viewing and voting, I heard many wonderful comments about the level of talent and awareness they displayed.
Our winner will be honored at our first annual fundraiser, June 15, 2019, and will receive a $200. cash award.
The winning design will be formatted and / or enhanced to meet transportation department guidelines.

Last Fall I was working on "TKO'ing Diabetes" legislation for Washington state.
It was only possible for those with MSA"s, medical savings accounts. This is unacceptable. I was told that this would have to be taken to the federal level via a submission to the organization that approves what your insurance covers, the USPFTF.
This requires supporting research to back up the claims and effectiveness of " fasting insulin" blood testing. I have been preparing a submission. I am now asking doctors, hospitals, and organizations to also provide letters of support.
If you think it it beneficial for your doctor/practitioner to have this critical test available to detect cardiovascular and or type 2 diabetes up to 10 years before onset, then join me in providing your name in support of this test; which I am asking to be "free" annually, and without any particular symptoms, just as you have your blood pressure checked . This test will allow the doctor, and patient to initiate wellness care by lifestyle changes which will change the course of these potential disorders. And, if accepted, there could be a savings of up to 30% for health care costs due to the massive savings for NOT having to undergo treatment for these disorders and their comorbidities.
You can do it! Take the challenge. 21 days to a better you. Here it is; increase your daily activity by 20 minutes. Try cranking up the music when you clean house, and just dance a while between chores. Eat a beautiful, colorful fresh salad every day, without dressings; use vinegar or avocado puree instead. Make a firm decision to 1) eat a whole food plant based diet, 2) quit eating sugar, 3) STOP soda , not even that diet stuff, 4) stop smoking, 5) sleep 7 - 9 hours every night, 6) reduce your stress through some form of relaxation or meditation. And most important of all, enjoy this challenge . Please check with your health care practitioner before making these changes.
The benefits are a healthier life , and all the options that gives us to enjoy!
